Invitation for assessment
You may be invited to attend the College to take an assessment of your English and Maths levels. This assessment will help to determine the level you are currently at, and guide us in placing you on the course at the level that best meets your needs. Based on the results of your assessment you will be offered further advice, guidance and an interview with a tutor.
The interview will give you the opportunity to meet the tutor and discuss the course in more detail, and identify how your current skills and experience meet the entry criteria. Please bring any evidence of your academic achievements and work experience with you to support your application.
You will be offered a place, either:
Conditional, which means you will need to gain certain qualifications or provide evidence of qualifications before you can enrol, or
Unconditional, which means you have met the entry criteria and can proceed to enrolment.
This is the final stage before you are fully registered as a student of the College.
You will have to bring proof of identification (which must be valid and in-date) with you to enable you to complete enrolment. This could be:
- Driving licence
- ID card or other form of national identification
- National Insurance card
- Bank credit/debit card
If you need assistance because of either a physical or learning disability, please let us know so that we can ensure you get the support you will need on your course.
You will be given a form called a ‘Learning Agreement’ which summarises what you will be studying with us. Once you have read and signed this document you will officially become a student of the College.
Full-time courses for under-19s are free. For adult learners, charges will depend on your age, the type of course you are enrolling on, and your personal circumstances.
Some courses will require payment for special materials, protective clothing, kits, or visits, whatever your age or circumstances.
You will be advised what you will need to pay before you enrol.
